Stephen Lyne

Stephen Lyne is the Director of Development for Book Fairies. Stephen has previously worked in the non-profit field with City Year, gaining experience in corporate and foundation partnerships, event management, and leading volunteer engagement programs.

Stephen was inspired to get involved in education by his father, who spent thirty years as a high school history teacher in California, and his mother, who impressed upon him the importance of reading at a very young age. Stephen currently lives on Long Island with his wife, young son, and two dogs, and loves being able to introduce his son to the same books he loved as a kid.

“I’ve always been passionate about making sure students in under-resourced communities have equitable access to quality education, and I’m so excited to keep doing that work with the amazing team at Book Fairies.”

Testimonials

A parent of one of my students says that "Every day, S opens up his dictionary & reads it in the morning, & when he gets home from school. He touches that book at least 10x a day!" S's vocabulary score increased on the DOE's iReady test.

My students were so excited to see all the books in our classroom. They love going to the reading corner to look through the books and pick a different one to read. Prior to receiving the books from Book fairies, our classroom only had a few books!

My students were so excited to go book shopping for the first time. We have been working on our reading stamina by reading 2 more minutes independently each day. They made it to 20 minutes this week and were so engaged with the new books in our library.
