With low-literate adults being 10 times more likely to receive public assistance, the low levels of adult literacy could be responsible for additional costs of as much as $2.2 trillion a year to the United States budget.

The funds raised for Book Fairies are invested in our mission to help us level the playing field where access to books is concerned. It is hard to imagine a home, classroom, or school library without books but unfortunately for many of our neighbors that is in fact the case. Thanks to your investment and trust in our mission, we are able to make strides in removing access to books as a barrier to achieving literacy. Our mission is large, and we wouldn’t exist without funding. Reading is essential, and it all starts with a book.
