Resources

Book Fairies is committed to providing programs to provide books to under-served areas of our community.  We work with our volunteers, sponsors, community leaders, teachers and educators to make books accessible and plentiful though various programs and initiatives throughout Long Island and New York City. Book Fairies looks forward to continuing our work supporting literacy in our communities. Through this outreach and support, we can continue to expand the Book Fairies vision of ensuring every child is exposed to the magic of books.

Book Fairies’ Book Bank is located behind 70 North Main Street in Freeport, NY. The entrance is at the BACK of the building. If you are coming from Sunrise Highway, turn north on Henry Street. Go under the train trestle and straight into the commuter parking lot. We are halfway down the parking lot, in a white building with a red staircase going down the back, and a BLUE book drop by the driveway.

Book Fairies accepts books at our Freeport Book Bank Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm (10 am – 1 pm in July & August). Testimonials

A parent of one of my students says that "Every day, S opens up his dictionary & reads it in the morning, & when he gets home from school. He touches that book at least 10x a day!" S's vocabulary score increased on the DOE's iReady test.

Ms. Vasquez PS 182

My students were so excited to see all the books in our classroom. They love going to the reading corner to look through the books and pick a different one to read. Prior to receiving the books from Book fairies, our classroom only had a few books!

Ms. M at PS 104 Queens, NY

My students were so excited to go book shopping for the first time. We have been working on our reading stamina by reading 2 more minutes independently each day. They made it to 20 minutes this week and were so engaged with the new books in our library.
