Below is an explanation of how personal data is collected, the purpose for collection and how such data is used.<\/p>\n<h4>Data Collected From Donors<\/h4>\n<p>When you choose to <a href=\"https:\/\/thebookfairies.org\/staging1\/book-donation\/\">donate books<\/a>, host a book drive or sign up for our newsletter, we collect your name, address, telephone number, and email address. This information is used to coordinate pick up or drop off of the donated books and is shared with our volunteer transportation partners.\u00a0 If you choose to <a href=\"https:\/\/thebookfairies.org\/staging1\/book-fairies-how-to-donate-funds\/\">donate funds<\/a> your name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth, and payment information is collected and shared with our third party payment processors <a href=\"https:\/\/stripe.com\/privacy\">Stripe<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.classy.org\/terms\/privacy\/\">Classy.org<\/a> to process the donation. Book Fairies does not store your payment information.<\/p>\n<h4>Data Collected From Volunteers<\/h4>\n<p>When you <a href=\"https:\/\/thebookfairies.org\/staging1\/volunteer-book-fairies\/\">volunteer<\/a> to assist in any of our events or with book distribution, we collect your name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth, and emergency contact name and telephone number. \u00a0If you are volunteering on behalf of another organization or company, we may also ask for the name of your employer.\u00a0 Additionally, we ask if any special accommodations are needed to assist you in volunteering, please do not include any sensitive or health related personal information in your response. \u00a0\u00a0This information is only shared internally and is used to place volunteers with programs, schedule and coordinate events and to give volunteers access to the <a href=\"https:\/\/bookfairies.secure.force.com\/BookFairies_PersonalSiteLogin\">Volunteer Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Data Collected From The Schools and Organizations Book Fairies Supports<\/h4>\n<p>In addition to monthly book fairs and public bookshelves across Long Island and New York City, the Book Fairies has partnerships with schools and community organizations to provide books and promote reading outside of school. If your organization is not already a partner, please <a href=\"mailto:sherry@thebookfairies.org\">Contact Us<\/a> to be added to the school\/community partnership program. In addition to collecting contact information for the schools and organizations we work with (including name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth), we collect aggregated data on the students or participants in the community, such as the number of students they serve, the age ranges of the students and whether the books are taken home or kept within the school.\u00a0 This information does not include personally identifiable information and is used to provide the right resources our partner schools and organizations and to enable our volunteers to distribute books.<\/p>\n<h4>Cookies, Web Beacons, Pixel Tags and GIFs<\/h4>\n<p>A cookie is a small text file (which typically includes a piece of computer code) that is downloaded and stored on your device, such as your computer or mobile device, when you access a website through your browser.\u00a0 When you visit a website, a cookie is downloaded onto your device and the next time you visit the website, your browser will check to see if you have received a cookie already and, if so, send that information back to the website.\u00a0 A web beacon is a graphic image, such as a pixel tag or clear GIF, which is placed on a web page or in an e-mail message to monitor user activity, such as whether the Web page or e-mail message is accessed or clicked. Book Fairies does not collect or store personally identifiable information through cookies nor does it sell advertising space on its site or provide marketing information to third party advertisers.<\/p>\n<h4>How We Protect Personal Information<\/h4>\n<p>The privacy of its donors, volunteers and recipients is important to Book Fairies and we take reasonable security measures to protect and prevent unauthorized access to the data we collect.<\/p>\n<h4>Children and Privacy<\/h4>\n<p>Book Fairies does not knowingly or intentionally collect personal information from or market to children under the age of 16. \u00a0Children under the age of 18 who would like to volunteer at one of our events must have written parental consent for the event as well to share any personal information necessary for participation.\u00a0 If you are a parent or guardian and become aware that your child has provided us information without your consent, please contact us at <a href=\"mailto:info@thebookfairies.org\">info@thebookfairies.org<\/a> to request that we remove such information from our files within a reasonable amount of time.<\/p>\n<h4>International Data Use and Transfer<\/h4>\n<p>Book Fairies sources and redistributes books to under-resourced communities on Long Island and NYC and use of its website and all data collected is intended for individuals in the United States only.\u00a0 Book Fairies and its website systems are located in the United States, and all data collected is processed and stored in the United States.\u00a0 The laws governing data collection, storage and use may differ under United States law from the law of other regions.<\/p>\n<h4>Updates To Uur Privacy Policy<\/h4>\n<p>This policy will be updated at our discretion and posted on our website in order to keep you informed of how we collect, use, manage, disclose, and protect information.
